Shared Ownership is a great way to step on the property ladder. By buying from just 25% of a home and up to 75% depending on what you can afford, you will need not only a smaller mortgage, but a smaller deposit too. The deposit required will be just 5 or 10% of the value of the share you buy, not the full market value. Put simply, if you buy a 25% share of a £400,000 home for £100,000, you will need a minimum of £5,000 as a deposit, (plus savings for other associated buying costs) and to get a mortgage for just £95,000.
What about the rest of the home I don’t buy?
Shared Ownership enables you to buy a home in stages, depending on what you can afford to purchase. On the remaining % of the home you don’t buy, you’ll pay a low-cost rent on back to Notting Hill Genesis; the more you own, the less rent you pay.

Help to Buy
Available on selected developments, London Help to Buy enables you to buy a new home with just a 5% deposit, 55% mortgage and a Government-backed equity loan of up to 40% of the value of the home.
Qualifying developments from Notting Hill Genesis offering scheme will feature the Help to Buy logo, and the home you intend to purchase cannot have a pricetag of more than £600,000.
The loan you borrow for up to 25 years, but what’s even better is that it’s interest free for the first five years. Interest is applicable from year six of ownership but for more information on how the scheme works, click here.
