Winter is coming! But before we get caught up with the Christmas jumpers and carol singing, here are a few things you should tick off your 2017 fun things to do in East London list.
The Slide
Release your inner-child and enjoy the pleasures of going down the world’s longest tunnel slide. The Slide stands at 178m (250ft) high sending you through twist and turns at speeds up to 15 mph. This tunnel is wrapped around the ArcelorMittal Orbit sculpture designed by Sir Anish Kapoor in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Black Ballet
From Wednesday 8 – Saturday 11 November prepare to be amazed in dance by the Black Ballet at the Theatre Royal Stratford East. This innovative ballet offers a wide range of styles from classical to contemporary showcasing a unique narrative. The well-known story of Red Riding Hood is just one of the creatively reinterpreted pieces directed by Cassa Pancho MBE.

Docks after dark
How brave are you? Can you endure 2 hours in a 200 year old warehouse hearing heart stopping accounts of men, women and children that worked in the Docks? ‘Nothing scary about it’ you say? Well, this one is for over 16s for a reason.

The Line
The Line is an art walk in East London between the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and The O2, along the waterways and Meridian. This sculpture walk allows you to admire the outstanding work from artist such as Anthony Gormley, Damien Hirst, Abigail Fallis, Martin Creed and Gary Hume. Along the route see hidden gems including the creative garden Cody Dock and Grade I listed House Mill. The sculptures will be on display for two years but the organisers hope to add to the exhibition over time.
