Evening Standard’s Homes and Property has featured an article with Canning Town and the Royal Docks amongst its top hotspots for ‘affordable’ property in London due to rising Shared Ownership stock over the next two years. Property consultants JLL highlights this area of East London as having the fifth largest number of shared ownership homes. But other than property prices, what makes Canning Town and the Royal Docks a viable option for first time buyers considering a home in East London?
ABP – The district that never sleeps
This major regeneration project in the Royal Docks will form a cohesive business and social connection between east and central London. With businesses operating in multiple time zones, developers predict a 24-hour culture with sociability at its heart. The positioning of ABP along the Thames waterside adds a whole other dimension to the development and a unique backdrop to the cafes, bars, restaurants, and health and fitness facilities planned for the area.
The active – More on the waterside
With plenty of waterside at ABP’s disposal, access to water sports and leisure activities give the development plenty to boast about. Royal Albert Dock Trust, UEL Sports Dock and Royal Victoria Docks Watersport Centre are just down the road, meaning access to kayaking, sailing, rowing and the latest celebrity fitness trend, paddle-boarding.
Canning Town
This time last year we wrote an article about Canning Town and its culture and people project. Since then the area has become an established neighbourhood with professional newcomers and young families setting up roots. Cody Dock is a place you’ll find local residents taking a stroll or morning coffee, or for the more hardcore fitness buffs, a jog to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park connected by Cody Dock’s secret riverside walkway.
Rathbone Market
With two and three bed Shared Ownership apartments available, this development in the heart of Canning Town is in its final phase and well-positioned to benefit from the growth of the Royal Docks.
Royal Albert Wharf
Here you’ll find 2 and 3 bed Shared Ownership apartments, duplexes and triplexes just a five minute walk from Gallions Reach DLR. Like ABP, Royal Albert Wharf enjoys ample waterside making it a tranquil alternative to its future, busy neighbour.
Traders' Quarter at Royal Wharf
This 1, 2 and 3 bed Shared Ownership development in the Royal Docks is situated closest to Pontoon Dock DLR and fast connections to Crossrail.
