Buying a home in London by the riverside in a new build that is well connected for commuting and perfect for London-living may all sound like an unattainable dream. But Shared Ownership has made this a reality for many people including Cuong Dang.
The first step
We helped Cuong, a 39-year-old project manager based in London take that first step onto the property ladder. Buying through Shared Ownership at Drummond House, part of one of Europe’s largest regeneration projects - Royal Arsenal Riverside, Cuong was able to purchase 25% (£99,375) of a two bedroom apartment with a full market value of £397,500.
The right moment
Taking his first step on the London property ladder, Cuong purchased his apartment a month after his search for a home started. Cuong says; “I viewed Drummond House at just the right moment in my life. I was getting older and starting to feel that I really should invest in property rather than continue to rent. I was keen to get on the property ladder before London house prices increased to the point where it would have been impossible for me to buy.”
Convenient for commuting
Having rented for the last five and a half years in an old Victorian building, Cuong was attracted to the design and layout of Drummond House and all the advantages a new build has to offer. Cuong adds;
“Because it’s a new build, it adheres to modern building standards. It’s more dependable and energy efficient than other properties out there. I love the layout of the apartments which are attractive and very practical. I’m looking forward to the opening of the Crossrail service because it will make commuting and getting around really convenient. There’s also some great existing transportation links near the development, including the DLR.”
Woolwich is changing for the better
Drummond House is the latest addition to the £1.5 billion mixed-use regeneration scheme, Royal Arsenal Riverside in Woolwich, Greenwich. It will provide a selection of 75 one and two bedroom apartments with access to additional on-site facilities including; shops, a museum, gym, ferry dock, cafés and forthcoming restaurants, pharmacy, pub, Tesco, play area and concierge service. Built in wardrobes in the bedrooms optimise the space of each apartment with energy efficient lighting throughout.
So how much does it all cost?
