Getting to know Oasis Interior Design in three questions

Known for their sleek work amongst Housing Associations, showhome interior designers, Oasis Interior Design, are at the top of their game when it comes to creating distinctive and appealing contemporary show homes. They are also no stranger to Notting Hill houses and apartments either. After dressing a 2 bedroom Battersea Reach apartment, we caught up with Design Director Rachel Best to catch a glimpse into the creative minds at Oasis.

1. What were your inspirations for the interior decor of Battersea Reach?

We were inspired by the artful drama of the architecture and picturesque, relaxing green spaces of the grounds. The development is prestigious and sophisticated with lots of amenities and we wanted this to be reflected within the show home.

But also on some of the 2015 catwalk shows, there were interesting colour combinations, which we’ve used on some of our schemes. Colours like olive and copper, which you perhaps would not ordinarily mix, look very directional.

For Battersea Reach, we wanted to encapsulate the lifestyle of prospective purchasers and used shots of zesty chartreuse (green) to inject colour and life into a smart, sophisticated, monotone urban luxe scheme.

2. Of all the Notting Hill Housing showrooms you’ve styled, which is your favourite?

That’s a tough question ... how can you choose your favourite child?! We recently designed the Westgate development, in the heart of vibrant East London, by London Fields. The brief we were given was to create a vibrant, trendy show home with a broad appeal. The apartment had such a lovely vibe and once we had finished we all wanted to live there! Creating a home office area into the living room was seamless with use of a ladder style desk. Clever use of space is very important to us. We love details like the Alexia Chung book on the beside, complete with hipster sunglasses. Out on the balcony we created a mini-allotment complete with artificial cabbages. Hopefully it will give visitors as much pleasure as it gave us

3. Much like Alexia Chung’s signature eyeliner, do you have a signature item that you have in all your showrooms?

We always add one item that gives the show home the wow factor. It could be a feature chair, floor light or a piece art. We aim to always have something that helps make the Oasis/Notting Hill show home memorable.

Look closely at our show homes and you are likely to find a pair of wayfarer style sunglasses or some beard oil in the bathroom.
3 Oasis Interior Design showroom must-haves!

1. A large mirror to create space and light
2. A large wall art piece to add interest and character
3. A light that creates that ‘wow’ factor and add sparkle!
