With plenty of parks, gardens and green spaces dotted throughout London, there are endless opportunities to take in and enjoy the warmer weather and longer days outdoors. Here are our top spots to spend time in East London this Spring.
Victoria Park
Also known as the ‘People’s Park’, this 218-acre public park in Bow is one of East London’s most popular green spaces. The park attracts millions of visitors each year with its wide range of activities, from boat rides and scenic lakeside strolls, to picnicking in the Old English Garden or by the Chinese Pagoda.
Victoria Park also hosts a series of festivals and sporting events throughout the year, so be sure to check what exciting events are popping up this Spring!
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Built for the London 2012 Olympics, this huge park has the West Ham Stadium, Tennis Centres, London Aquatic Centre, parkland, playgrounds and waterways; providing fun activities to suit the whole family. For those that want to unwind, there’s plenty of grass to stretch out and enjoy the sun or perhaps take a relaxing boat ride along the canals. For the more adventurous, there are electric scooters and bikes to hire, or if you really want to get the adrenaline pumping take a ride down the ArcelorMittal Orbit, the world’s longest tunnel slide.
There are also loads of sporting events and festivals held here, which you can check out here.
Greenwich Park
Hop across the river from East London and you'll land in Greenwich Park, home to the Royal Observatory, the beautiful Old Royal Naval College and the Cutty Sark, one of England's most famous restored ships.
Once you’ve explored the park and perhaps played a game of tennis or two, make your way towards Greenwich Market. Here, you can enjoy street food and alfresco dining at one of the popular restaurants or gastropubs.
Mudchute Farm
You might be surprised to know that East London is home to one of the capital’s largest city farms. Located in the middle of the Isle of Dogs lies Mudchute Farm and Park, covering a 32-acre site with your favourite farmyard animals including; sheep, pigs, horses, cows, ducks, dogs and more! Also on offer is the farm’s café, Mudchute Kitchen, special events such as the Easter parade and annual dog show, an education centre and nature trail.
