Camberwell is quickly becoming known for its exciting and varied restaurant scene. Located just a few miles down the road from the famous eateries of Brixton Market, Camberwell now has some restaurants to rival its local competition.
In the space of a few streets you can eat from all around the world, from Sichuan soups to Greek grilled meats. Here are our top two international restaurants worth checking out in the local area.
Silk Road
49 Camberwell Church Street, SE5
Although you'll be knocking elbows with your neighbour in this small restaurant it's more than worth the trouble to feast upon the Sichuan delicacies you can find at Silk Road. There's plenty to enjoy here for chilli lovers but there are lots of milder dishes for other palates too.
The home style cabbage is the star of the show along with the sharing-size platters of grilled meats and spicy broths brimming over with tasty noodles. Definitely not your average Chinese restaurant!
FM Mangal
54 Camberwell Church Street, SE5
Turkish food is the order of the day here. The charcoal grill is always on the go and the staff are kept busy serving up hot and cold food for both restaurant and take away customers.
For a place with such excellent meat their vegetable dishes certainly aren't second class citizens. Salads are fresh and a particular favourite here is the blistered mild chilli topped off with some of their delicious garlic sauce.
Don't forget about the crowning achievement though, the special mixed grill. Delicious lamb chops, ribs and chicken wings are all laid out here for you to stuff yourself with and you will definitely be doing that if you take a trip down to this traditional Turkish restaurant.
Camberwell Fields is just on the doorstep
If you want to live close to the culinary action you should check out Camberwell Fields, an exciting new development of 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments, 2 & 3 bedroom duplexes and 3 bedroom townhouses opposite Burgess Park.
